Royal Revenge for Menan!
On a misty eve at the Pindar Astro Arena the Menanian camp was in tatters. Only 4 of the season regulars took to the turf doning the famous tangerine sweaters. Filling in the gaps in the side stepped Steve Parvin and Gaz McNamara. In the pre match build up Menanian head coach Plumpton was said to be "throwing in the star's of a splendid reserve team". McNamara was most nervous out of the pair, almost weeing his pants before kick off.
The Royal Oak outfit like Menan were significantly weakened leaving the mediocre crowd of the season spectating on a game which will not go down as a high quality affair.
Osguthorpe passed a late fitness test from his bout of Impertigo and made the line up by the skin of his teeth, eager to do battle with his bully friend Willan.
The opening exchanges began like two gays feeling each other out before getting down to the nitty gritty with Gaz Mcnamara slamming home a Mark Hughes style volley in his Man Utd days from 20 yards giving the Oak keeper no chance. A real scorcher, scoring 10 on the goal rating charts.
The first Royal Oak chance went a begging with Osguthorpe using his raw power running at the Menan back line, Plumpton beckoned the hit man to shoot with his "Worm Burner" of a shot trickling wide 2 yards away from a Menan kick in to the cackles of the nights Ref, Andy Smith.
Half time Menan 1 v 0 Oak
Menan were dominating posession with their makeshift team and looked likely to notch the games second goal when suddenly Osguthorpe again took the bull by the horns and began to stamp his authority on the game with another trademark strike...... this time actually going for a kick in!!
Man of the match wannabe "Ossgy" used a deft piece of skill to turn Menanian Ward in another match highlight. Ward did however claim he let "Ossgy" do this on purpose as he felt sorry for him, an insider however found Ward completely flat footed (Which may of been due to the 18hrs work he did today).
Number 2 for Menan was always on the cards with Willan striking a ball so true he could hardly believe he had actually connected so well as the ball smoked through the Oak goal and almost certainly leaving a bruise on the keepers leg.
More Oak players got in on the skills act with manager Fowler wooing the crowd with some Ronaldo'esk step overs before striking the ball in anger at the Pindar fence.
The game was finished when "Big Mac" set up Ward for a cool composed finish, the Oak heads went down and Menan took a 3-0 victory. (3-2 on Aggregate for you Carl Sample)
Tonights man of the match award given to the global cause of "Impertigo on Accountants" dished the gong to Royal Oak heart throb Osguthorpe for some quite literally, unbelievable finishing skills!!!
With the league season over the Menanians finished in a respectable 2nd place and a cup still to fight for. Next Season will surely see the troops look to push on one better and take the gold?
