Inter Menan 2 vs 3 Riskers

Pashby BumF*cks Menan!!!   A depleted and battling Menanian outfit were shafted by a naughty substance abusing refereeing in their latest battle with Riskers FC.   Riskers managed to show up for the game after previously letting the Menanians down on the first day of the new league ladder season.   Youngster Sam Wallace made his debut for Menan after many years following the former team Athletico Harchesterio in which he said he models himself on former hero’s; - James Yates, Scott Eccles and of course his personal favourite Carl Robinson.   Menan failed to get to grips with the game, with the heat playing havoc with one or two Menanians fitness levels. However after 6 minutes Menan broke down the left and centred for Willan to tap home only for Lumbis to run through his area and tap the ball back to his keeper. It was a certain penalty; Pashby waved play on much to the Tangerines disgust and anger. To make matters worse the referee on the next pitch shouted over and pointed out he had got it wrong, surely time for video technology down at the Pindar astro arena?? Team gaffer Mark Plumpton is said to be drawing up the petition to send to no 10 downing street this week.   To make matters worse for Menan they then went down 1 – zip in the most controversial of styles. A Riskers youth raced through the Menan back line only to knock the ball too far in front of him and in to Tony Ross’s goal area, the striker followed up tapping it home, a good two yards inside, the result = A GOAL!   The Menanians were furious, Willan had to be restrained by match stewards as he looked to use his overly large barnett to plant one on anyone who looked to stand in his way, he had infact turned green, Incredible Hulk stylie. It was another shocker of a decision.   The Menanians rallied and instantly went down the other end and picked up a free kick as Lumbis threw Wallace (17) to the deck. It was Willan territory. All the hours of set piece practice after training were about to pay off as he smashed home through the wall and through the diving goal tender to bring the scores level at one each.   First Period Score 1 v 1 The Second period was no less controversial as countless slide tackles went unpunished by Riskers, it was turning in to a joke, but no one but Pashby was laughing. It was obvious he was desperate to get back home to get him self under the sunbed and settle down with a quick night cap of a glass of turpentine and a mouthful of magic beans.   Riskers were tiring yet still managed to take the lead as Willan was left 2 v 1 in his quadrant of the field. The Riskers front man danced passed him and hammered passed Ross to make it 2 points to Riskers and only 1 to Menan.   Once again the Menanians “never give up” approach saw them equalise almost instantly as Plumpton released Willan and he finished as only he knows, with a power blaster to take the scores level.   The late drama was to come with Menan on top of the game, looking the most likely to take the points. Willan found himself one on one, looking in to the whites of the Riskers keepers eyes, about to pull the trigger with his left footed wand when suddenly his legs were taken by another slide tackle by a desperate defender. Pashby trotted over, adjusted his frow and announced “a free kick”, no further action was taken! The Menanians were furious, it was a goal scoring opportunity and he was the last man… you can guess what happened next, that’s right Mr Willan said a swear word in the ref’s direction. It was time for an early shower for him.   Menan still pressed, even with 5 as Plumpton drove through the centre and released Pickard down the right. Sadly Pickard just lacked the pace to leave his man and the move broke down. Like a game of basket ball that it had become the ball was launched from the riskers goal into the Menan section of the astro, Plumpton rose in the air unopposed…..oh no what was Wallace doing…… he ran towards Plumpton, who nodded the ball away only to see it ricochet off Wallace and straight through on goal for a Riskers guy to slot passed Ross and leave the Menanians leaving the turf with nothing but disappointment and anger towards the match official.   Good news for Menan is that a pick me up is right around the corner. Next weeks match vs Eastfield FC, and more importantly against the best player who graces the Pindar Astro Arena ; - Chris “Waddle” Costigan
