(Match report)
Vicous comeback by MWFC with 3 goals down, sealing the victory with a splendid performance by the team with a 4-3 result.
This game might be the best comeback ever in MWFC history!
In just 15minutes of play, MWFC was already being outplayed in the midfield and was trailing with 3 goals. When all hope was lost, Kelvin Teo managed to dribble past his fullbacks and get a glimpse into the box and as he was about to lay on for Ryan, he was badly tackled and the referee had no hesitation and pointed straight to the spot. Ryan lines up the ball and mades his run and took the penalty, but it was saved by the goalkeeper! However the referee blew for a retake as he spotted the goalkeeper off the line before the PK. After the initial missed by Ryan, he changed for Edwin and steps up and calmly slotted the first of the many for Wolves. Lucky day for MWFC!
Just before halftime, Vice-capt Weihao whom was subbed in halfway during the first half found himself plenty of space after a decisive through-ball from Kelvin and he blasted the ball into the goal even with the slightest of angle left. 2-3, half-time.
Island69 was left in shocked during half-time and it didn't get any better when the second half started, MWFC was playing an even more intense game and everyone on the pitch was determined and giving their 200% effort. Waves of attack kept pouring in, Ryan & Kelvin was running riots with their fullbacks and it seems like their players were tired from all the running.
Equaliser started from a recovery deep in MWFC's half and was picked up by Weihao whom was running onto Island69 defense, after skipping past two defenders, he lobbed a through ball into Ryan's path and Ryan tapped into space and returned the ball to Weihao and he sent a rocket shot straight into the net. What a play by the forwards! the ball didnt even touch the ground, awesome 1-2 play there!
The winning goal came with a little bit of luck as the opponents failed to clear the ball from MWFC's corner and it was a loose ball from a failed clearance and MWFC midfielder had little to do and slotted home the winner.
Alex whom was being called upon to be the goalkeeper was having a sensational performance despite the early 3 goals conceded. Not being played in his natural position, Alex was doing his job just right and saved a couple of shots that kept MWFC in the game. The game ended off with a last minute penalty conceded by MWFC, when everyone thought that the game will be ended with a tie after the penalty, Alex diminish Island69's hope as he guessed the right direction and saved the day! What a drama twist at the very last moment of the game and that save also earned him the MOM award.
