Hat Trick Hero Matty Saves Simmy from getting Egg on his face!!!

Another Sunday and another victory for the boys in Black in what was probably the coldest most miserable day of the year so far.  A couple of the lads were rested for the game giving others a chance to shine and after a good training session mid-week in which the boys were treated to some world class defending for a change we were ready for the away trip to DJC.

After a minutes applause for Sunny we started the game slowly on a horrible pitch but after taking an overdose of Prozac Matty was chirping away and his persistence paid off with a shot in off the post to give us a 1-0 lead.

To our disbelief DJC managed to equalise after Simmy got in a pickle after letting the ball slip under his bony frame.  To be fair to Simmy they guy had played a brilliant cross into the box which was headed into the back the net for 1-1.  Maybe somebody should have been organising the defence better?!

The wing backs had the better of the opposition on both flanks with Stevie B working tirelessly and Woody on the other side with his slinky mazy dribbles causing all sorts of problems.   Matty scored his second of the game with a little help from Rick O Shea for 2-0 and Ando’s remarkable goal scoring record continued with another Shearer esque penalty for 3-1 after Woody was fouled in the box.

Matty wrapped up has Hat Trick soon after with a quadruple step over and a left footed shot into the corner for a 4-1 lead at half time.

So the big question at half time……..WHAT DOES ROBIN  ANDERSON PUT IN HIS PORRIDGE???  4 Anderson goals at half time!!!!!  Unbearable!

Second half begins and a goal from Moses for 5-1 – will the big Egyptian hit double figures this season?.  A free kick into the top corner gave DJC some pride for 5-2.

We could have been ahead by more soon after but unfortunately Moses’ belly was offside so it was down to Woody to put us 6-2 up after he caressed the ball into the net.

Lee and Owen replaced Nick & Moses and it was a the two subs who combined with a flick on from Owen to Lee who sprinted through and slotted home for a 7-2 win.  A real worry at the end as we thought we had lost Moses but fortunately he was found with his Dad in the showers playing with his rubber ducky!!!

Special shout out to Clarkie who is now rivalling Matty for Assistant Referee of the year.
