Away league match played on 12 July 2015.
Kicked off at 12:00 PM

An absolute fantastic result that truly reflects the new feelings and mental state the team is now embracing. We are enjoying our football and that is so very important. Solid committed performances and favourable results has made us all smile and with Marconi next up a high level of confidence is so important to have. Northern tigers on the day were intent on taking away the points as they convincingly did the last time we met at Bates 2. However we are a different team discovering some great combinations all over the park. So to the game. A bit of a sad day with Megsy having to make a strong tackle in the box and damaging her MCL, leaving her to mend for the next 4-6 weeks. Also Jade had received a hard knock in an over the top challenge and will also be out fortunately however only for a week, fingers crossed. We had Steff from the 17's step up and replace Adrianna who was injured whilst away at uni games. Steff made some telling saves and was not afraid to throw her body on the line for the team. Thanks Steff!! Also Emma has made the jump to Reserve grade from the 17's and slotted in at 9 late in the match and without doubt she will be an asset to our team. We were the first to score and it came from a fantastic dribble by Jade down the left wing where she took on the Tigers 5 whipped in a delicious low cross behind the defense and onto Charlotte who was determined to get onto the end of it and that she did. 1-0 to the Sharkies. Tigers upped the pressure and kept us pegged back for long spells and although they did not threaten the goal a goal did eventuate from a scrappy clearance and cheeky lob over Steff and 3 or 4 defenders. The introduction of Speedy added another dimension to the right and with Charlotte moved to the left it was only a matter of time that Charlotte was to cut inside and hammer the ball towards goal. And that she did and so gracefully as well. The jubilation was amazing. The tigers used all their might to get the equaliser and came agonisingly close on a few occasions but sometimes belief can manifest itself at the right times. A special mention to Sharai playing in the unfamiliar role of 2. She was up against the speedy #33 a real challenge indeed but was absolutely awesome in keeping that part of the field safe. I do think however the best on ground should go to Jels. Even though i subbed her for tactical reasons her tenacity, fearsome tackles and passion for the game was outstanding to the moment she departed the pitch. Enjoy your holiday and well done. Big game coming up girls v Marconi one that i am so excited to play.
