U10s Whites Match Report ??
??? Date - Sunday 11th January
?? Opponents - Heaton Mersey Vipers
?? Result - 3-3
?? Competition - League match
First game of the new year and it had so many positives to take from it.
In possession -
The lads were brilliant in possession yesterday. After a long break over the Christmas period a dip in performance seemed likely but that definitely was not the case at all. We worked the ball well up the pitch, with some great passes into good areas to get beyond their defence; and we created a number of counter attacks which Heaton Mersey did very well in their recovery to stop us from scoring. Throughout the game we saw some great bits of individual skill to get past one or two players, but what made it even better was the lads were looking to offload it and find a teammate who was in a better position rather than continuing to try and take it on their own which was great to see. Towards the end we changed shape to a more attacking style to try and get the win. A big well done to the boys for adapting and playing exactly how I wanted them too in a formation we’ve never played before. We almost got the win right at the end but their keeper made some top saves to keep the match level.
Out of possession -
Out of possession the boys battled very well and didn’t allow the opposition the chance to walk through us. In a shape that asks a lot from the 4 across the middle the boys did just what I wanted them too. Their recovery runs and working back was excellent and it didn’t allow them easy chances on goal. In the past we’ve not recovered as well as we did today and it has cost us. With the formation change towards the end we went more attacking which meant when we lost the ball we didn’t have as many numbers at the back. The lads did really well with their positioning and their recovery runs to ensure that they and won the ball back as quick as they could which showed me big improvements in how we play out of possession.
? MOTM - Sam
Sam was excellent in front of goal getting himself and the team 2 crucial goals. His work rate to get up and down the wing was great, especially when on the break after winning the ball back. His speed to make a run forward or when carrying the ball up the pitch made our offensive transitions very dangerous and the opposition really struggled with this.
?? Goals - Sam x 2, Jacob P
?? Assists - Raff x 2, Jacob D
A very good performance from the boys with lots of positives to take from it. We were definitely the better team on the day.
See you all at training on Tuesday.
Thanks
Jayden ??
