Inter Menan 2 vs 3 Westover Wasps

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;" align="center">Return of the Gezi!!! <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;" align="center">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">All eyes were on the Menan game last Tuesday eve as once again the players off the field antics took centre stage. Rumours had been rumbling around not just Eastfield but the whole of Scarborough that Menan forward Gez Ward was set to once again lace up his astros and return to the tangerines set up. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">There were many questions in the air, how will Ross react to this? Has any deal as reported last week been done between the pair? And most importantly, will Gail Platt get sent down for murdering her recent husband Joe Mcintire when she didn&rsquo;t even do it??? <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">As the clock struck 8pm the Vauxhall Chavilier Ward mobile entered the Pindar Astro Car park only to be swamped by young girls, reporters in their droves and of course Tony Ross. The atmosphere was silent, like a garden party at Fred West&rsquo;s - as Ward walked towards Ross for the first time. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">Ross&rsquo;s knees were trembling like a bad Las Vegas Elvis as Ward stopped a foot away from the veteran stopper. &ldquo;Ross, I have one thing to say to you and one thing only&hellip;&hellip;Thanks!&rdquo; The crowd gasped in confusion as Ward added &ldquo;What you did to Teresa has taught me something. Women are for the kitchen and to iron my smalls, friends are forever&hellip;.I forgive you!&rdquo; With this astonishing twist Ross and Ward held hands and skipped their way into the Pindar Astro Arena changing caravan to prepare for a crucial game in Menan&rsquo;s season. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">The Menanians lined up with a relieved Ross in net, Graysocks and Willan at the rear, Plumpton and Boro Town legend Patterson in the middle and returning Gez Ward up top. Their was no room in the starting line up for last time outs Goal Hero Dobson who was carrying a knock from after school gym practice. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">The pre-game hype had left the game something of an anticlimax with RossGezgate taking centre stage; the Menanians had certainly taken their eye off the ball with a poor start to the match. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">Within minutes of the first period kicking off Westover took the lead as Patterson was beaten in the tackle for the first time in his life. The ball broke kindly for the Westover front man who finished with aplomb. There went Pattersons record, 244 victorious tackles and no knockouts, that had now gone and so had Ross&rsquo;s clean sheet. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">It went from bad to worse as Menan went two down shortly after as Ramm, the games official gave a bizarre decision against Plumpton for standing still next to an opposition forward. Plumpton and the Menanians were baffled and arguing the decision with Ramm when Westover pressed on with a quick free kick and duly converted from 12 yards. There was fury from the Menanians and the 3 man strong crowd but Ramm would not change his mind, it was obvious he wanted to make the league more entertaining with a Tangerine defeat with ESPN rumoured to be making a bid for league viewing rights. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">Menan were sailing down poop creak without a paddle, they needed a hero to save the day and on came Cameron B.J Dobson. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;" align="center">Half Time &ndash; Menan Neil v 2 Westover Wasps <p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;" align="center">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">The arrival of current top scorer failed to make an impact as Dobson himself spurned a glorious chance, as did Ward at the start of the second period. It then got worse for Menan and most notably Plumpton&hellip;.. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">Ross had collected the round pumped up object and was assessing his options, as he now does in Boleyns most Thursday evenings as part of &ldquo;Grab a granny&rdquo; night. He bowled the ball to Plumpton who was startled as he had not been expecting to receive&hellip;. Patto yelled, but it was too late&hellip; Plumpton had dropped a B*llock and been disposed in a critical area of the battlefield, he could only look on as the Westover forward strode forward to make it 3-Neil, a score never seen in the Menan camp. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">As Menan kicked off Plumpton raced forward in tears looking to make amends at the right end. It was all Menan as Westover were happily camping the team bus infront of their goal area and booting the ball over the fence at every opportunity to waste precious match time. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">For the first time in the match Ward and Dobson combined with the latter finishing a delightful side foot pass to bring the scores back to 3-1. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">Almost immediately and just like waiting for the No 7 Eastfield to Scarborough, along came another in quick succession as Plumpton let rip after Football Mundial England International Stopper &ldquo;Egg&rsquo;ed&rdquo; showed why he is the leagues number one with another tremendous stop. The ball was travelling at a rate of knots, which some say very much like the speed of sound. It was about to hit home in the back of the pokey when suddenly a Westover player ran across the area to clear and give away a penalty spot kick situation and also deny Plumpton and prolong his goal drought. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">Dobson stepped up remembering his misdemeanour which sent his fellow Menanians home as sad little boys in last seasons Cup semi final, oh and in the cup season before that. It didn&rsquo;t affect him as he brought it back to 3-2 and netting his 18th goal in 6 games. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">There was literally seconds left, surely not enough time to get the ball and get another one. A long punt over the fence was expected from Westover when the Wasp forward had a moment which wouldn&rsquo;t of looked out of place in a padded room fit for craaaaaaazzzzy people as he knocked the ball back to Egg&rsquo;ed in net. A free strike&hellip;. 20 yards out, last kick of the game, hero time, could Dobson do it and save the teams bacon? No could he balls and Menan trudged off having lost a game in which they should have won and Egg&rsquo;ed went home for a Posh Tom Tank in the Thumb of his Goalie Gloves&hellip;. <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">&nbsp; <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;">The Man of the Match award was picked by Eric the local Menan follower who sadly lost sight in both eyes during a tragic spud gun accident and he plumped for Patterson as his shoes sounded the best when running fast&hellip;
