Home cup match played on 31 January 2015.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

On - Off - On again! The Potten end quickstep! Just to clarify the events of this weekend. You have the esteemed Paul (I’m on Facebook dontcha know) Nolan to thank for the shenanigans! I took a call from Raz at 11.30 telling me that the pitch was a no go. Fair play i’ll cal the other team - who were on route. Nolan arrived and in conjunction with the most pedantic ref in the world contrived to call it on again……. so I rang the other team - re instating the game (and getting back in my car to set off again)! Gregor then called me to say that he didn’t think it could play……… Oh well you know the rest. Our Ref: Dale and I (having discussed in agreement with Engineer) requested roll on roll off subs. To say that he was pernickety is an understatement. I think that set the tone for his loving attitude towards us. I was pleased with how we started, passing and tracking was all good. We looked up for it considering the futile nature of the game (win, loose or draw - we were out). The decision to award a penalty though was ridiculous in the extreme. The other team had started to walk back for the goal kick for heavens sake? Christian was understandably “perturbed.” Honestly what a stinker of a decision, which they say even themselves out……….not in this game they didn’t. Easily the worst refereeing performance this year. The tone was set and we really had little change all day. MOM: Robbie put in a young mans shift. His goal was superb, gambling on a ball that Mark had punted upfield, when it came through (*ahem) he was ready and waiting. I said before the game that I had had some volunteers for sub duty, so a big shout out to Nolan and Gregor, but significantly also the Machine, who was the first to throw himself on his sword for the benefit of other players. HE HATES the bench, so kudos chaps. I didn’t want to make the same subs in this game, so when I wanted to bring Dale on, It was a midfield birth available. I offered Robbie the cover slot in midfield to put Dale up top, but graciously he subbed himself - another cementation of his mature performance on the day. Jonny picked up another Goal, but has managed to repeat an old injury playing on Sunday, we may be missing him for the remainder of the year. Good luck Jon, heal quickly buddy. I put a big responsibility on Kieran this week. All I will say is a big WELL DONE young man - more of the same please? Back to the league this weekend and a Massive 'team above us game'. Keep our effort going - its been good the last few games. Keep it Rotten.
