Farcical scenes this morning as we had to wait to kick off as our opposition finally arrived at 11:15am, Exchange Fc today’s opponents.
With a few players missing today it was a much changed side from our last match but one that was still more than capable of getting a result, Matty Smith helping out in goal Ste Harper making his first start and Philly Bryan making his debut for the club.
We started like in our last game, rampant from the off sometimes a bit too wasteful as too many of our final balls was poor but with 10 minutes on the clock we got our first after a headed clearance once again from the mini Michael Jordan Matthew Easterbrook was flicked on by Curran and Leslie cleverly released Rose who made no mistake firing low past the keeper 0-1.
The shout from the side was to play it simple like the last game and Machin and Curran duly obliged as they linked up wonderfully in the middle of the park to release Leslie who flew down the right and played a ball to the edge of the penalty area to that man Rose who showed some great trickery and feet in the box to fire across goal where his partner in crime Hardman tapped in to make it 0-2.
Seconds later Hardman again was at it as after great work down the right he fired a cross to repay the favour to Rose but the ball hit the defender who forced it into his own net 0-3.
Then Edgey after great work found himself gallivanting into the box only to be poleaxed by their defender the ref waving play on????? Blatant penalty!!
Game then got a bit scrappy at times for the remainder of the half as we seemed to want to force things instead of taking our time in making decisions in the final third.
The second half started with an almighty bang as straight away Hardman fed Rose again and Rose made no mistake finishing with ease past the keeper 0-4.
A number of changes were made to give lads a run out as Briggs, Phillips and Miller entered the fray in place of Edge,Bryan and Lennon.
The impressive Danny Curran fancied a goal and struck a great effort from 30 yards out which looked in but it rattled off the crossbar, seconds later he fed substitute Sean Phillips with a terrific ball who was flagged for off side when he was yards on…something the ref got wrong countless times thru the match as well as not one but 2 clear fouls on Hardman in the penalty area.
Rose was due a rest but kept on in the hope that he would get his deserved Hat-Trick after being presented with a chance which went begging he was replaced by Textas.
Once again Hardman showed as well as score goals for fun he also lays them on a plate and his pass found Textas thru one on one he hit a decent strike just wide.
Seconds later another sub got in on the act as Briggs scored a great solo goal, out on the left he advanced slipping it past the full back he made his way into the box and hit a neat finish into the back of the net 0-5.
Leslie could smell a goal and he was crying to the ref over one which he swore crossed the line, seconds after that he found his way into the box again only to see his effort agonisingly saved by the keepers crotch….Leslie’s face said it all.
It wasn’t over yet not by a long shot and Hardman capitalised on a bad defensive mistake to finish superbly to make it 0-6. That wasn’t enough for the man as minutes later a superb ball in space from Curran found Stu 20 yards out and he smashed in a great finish for much deserved Hat-Trick 0-7.
Still he wasn’t full as he jumped on another deflected pass and finished with the simplest of touches to make it 0-8.
With minutes left we got our 9th goal as Stu Hardman fed Machin down the left channel and he made no mistake finishing low 0-9.
Once again a decent performance and some encouraging performances Steve Harper can be proud after a solid showing in the defence and none more so than the hugely impressive Stu Hardman who deservedly got M.O.M to go with his 4 goals.
