Community Football League (London)
The Community Football League (CFL) is an amateur football league based in London, England. It was founded in 2010 and currently has over 100 teams competing in a variety of divisions.
History
The CFL was founded in 2010 by a group of people who wanted to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for amateur football in London. The league was originally called the Newham League, but it was renamed the Community Football League in 2016 to reflect its broader reach.
The CFL has grown rapidly since its inception and now has teams competing in a variety of divisions, including men's, women's, and youth. The league also offers a variety of cup competitions, including the CFL League Cup and the CFL Charity Shield.
Structure
The CFL is divided into a number of divisions, each of which is further divided into a number of leagues. The divisions are based on the skill level of the teams, with the Premier Division being the highest level and the Development League being the lowest level.
The season runs from September to May, with each team playing a number of matches against other teams in their division. The top teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom teams are relegated to the next division.
Competitions
In addition to the regular league season, the CFL also offers a number of cup competitions, including the CFL League Cup and the CFL Charity Shield.
The CFL League Cup is a knockout competition that is open to all teams in the league. The winner of the CFL League Cup qualifies for the FA Vase, a national cup competition for amateur football teams.
The CFL Charity Shield is a match between the winners of the Premier Division and the Development League. The match is played at the end of the season and is a celebration of the end of the season.
