Westmorland County FA Futsal League
The Westmorland County FA Futsal League is an amateur futsal league for teams in the Westmorland area of England. The league was founded in 2015 and currently has divisions for men, women, and girls.
History
The Westmorland County FA Futsal League was founded in 2015 by Rob Haworth, the Westmorland County FA's Football Development Officer. Haworth wanted to create a futsal league for teams in the Westmorland area that would be accessible to players of all abilities.
The league began with just two divisions, men's and women's. In 2016, a girls' division was added. The league has grown steadily since its inception and now has over 30 teams competing in its three divisions.
Format
The Westmorland County FA Futsal League is a 10-week league, with each team playing each other team once. The top two teams in each division at the end of the season qualify for the playoffs, with the winners of the playoffs being crowned champions.
The league uses a modified version of the FIFA futsal rules. The most notable difference is that the game is played on a smaller court with fewer players. This makes the game faster and more exciting.
Future
The Westmorland County FA Futsal League is growing rapidly and is now one of the most popular futsal leagues in the North West of England. The league is planning to expand in the coming years, with the addition of more divisions and teams.
The league is also looking to develop futsal at a grassroots level, with the introduction of futsal coaching courses and festivals. The league is committed to making futsal accessible to players of all abilities and hopes to continue to grow and develop in the years to come.
