The Northern Counties Walking Football League
The Northern Counties Walking Football League is an amateur football league for people over the age of 50. It is based in the north of England and currently has 9 teams competing in one division.
History
The league was founded in 2018 by Mick Lowley, a former professional footballer. The inaugural season saw 6 teams compete, and the league has since grown to its current size.
Rules
- The game is played on a full-size football pitch, but players must walk at all times.
- There is no tackling, but players are allowed to block and intercept passes.
- The game is played over two halves of 25 minutes each.
- There is no offside rule.
Venues
The league games are played at various venues across the north of England, including Wakefield, Leeds, and Grimsby.
