In the break after their opening victory in the other match in the group the Engineering Society beat the Kazakh Society 2-0 meaning not only had FMsoc qualified for the knockout stages but also if they could avoid defeat they would guarantee top spot and a quarter-final and avoid favourites for the tournament the Afghan society.
Because of this the Badgers set up to gain the one point they would need to win the group by virtue of goals scored. A stunning defensive performance from the whole team but particularly Salim who was masterful blocking every chance the Engineering Society attempted to produce. As their opponents began to grow more and more frustrated FMsoc only grew in confidence and saw out a well-fought 0-0 draw.
And as the final table showed the Badgers had miraculously topped the league table and were heading into the quarterfinals to play the Chinese Society.
